“ I was told of this place some time ago and since I was in the area, I decided to stop and try the fare. I was picking up for both my wife and I. Normally we split a burrito since most places around give huge burritos. Today I wish I'd ordered two. This shop is in a mostly closed and very seedy looking strip mall. I think she may be one of only two surviving businesses in this mall. Once inside she has a bit of furniture and a number of plants giving a homier and more welcoming feel. The burrito itself (bacon, egg, potato and green) tasted very good. I see from other reviews the green chile is normally off the scale hot. Personally I enjoyed the lighter heat. The burrito was more of a large taco size, and wasn't folded with ends closed, so if buying to eat while driving, it could get messy. Service is very quick, I was third in line and from the second my order was out of my mouth it was being made. I doubt I was in the shop 10 minutes. Cash payment is preferred and a 10% fee is added if you choose to use a card. Fortunately I did have enough cash so saved that bit. Bottom line. For $6 you get fantastic flavor. Don't let the exterior deter you, the food is worth the stop. Next time I may try one of the treats they also sell. The cookies and the cake both looked tempting. ”
“ Definitely a New Mexico treat the Green Chile and bacon breakfast burrito- so spicy soooo good! ”
“ FOR THOW OF YOU WHO DONT KNOW THE BURRITO LADY RUNS THE STORE PRETTY MUCH ALONE! she's been doing this for a long time as we can all tell by how amazing her chile and everything is! i believe it'd be worth it to keep going there as long as you can because once she's gone there won't be anything like it ever again. SHES A BEAUTIFUL SOUL - from a born and raised burqueña we love you! ”
“ I'm updating my previous review - my man Aram mentioned the chile was no longer scorching . . . and he's right. (That's how you know it's a local place: the Puerto de Luna chile crop appears not to have been as picante this year.) Anyhow, pack your patience, as the set up involves one counterperson (Consuelo, the Burrito Lady) who's also hustling in the back (where you'll spot cooks working as fast as they can, rattling pots amidst bursts of flame) and taking phone orders. There is often a line out the door. Best practice is to look carefully at the most recent menu photo posted here online, call in your order, and show up on time with cash in your fist (she takes cards, but your payment will go to the back of the line, behind all the cash folks and behind the phone orders because she needs to use the phone line to run the credit - just like in the Eighties!). What is _likely_ to happen (today was the first day I've ever been there when there was no line) is that you'll find a line of people ordering, you'll stand in it for a while (5-10 minutes) making no visible progress toward the front, and then Consuelo will call out, "Are there any carry out orders?" That's you. You'll shout out, get called to the front, pay with your cash, take your order and run out to your car. Where you will open the bag to discover - every time - solidly delicious $6 breakfast and lunch burritos, bursting with umami, smoke and spice - if you can catch the Burrito Lady on the three days she's open (and only then for limited breakfast/lunch hours). These might be the tastiest handheld burritos for sale right now - they might be the tastiest I've ever had (and I'm thinking back on those from at least dozen fantastic old school mom and pop Norteño places over the decades). It's not just the good quality of the ingredients, it's that every bit of it has been put together by someone who knows New Mexican cuisine and who knows how to COOK. (Consuelo says she will smother the burritos. I've ordered them that way before but . . . well, mistakes happen, and they were never delivered smothered. Just as well - I'm still sweating, by the way.) Both red and green are utterly delicious. Two stand-outs: the supreme breakfast burrito (which I get Christmas) and the chicharron (and bean) lunch burrito (which I get green, despite the fact that the menu suggests red for it). No, the space is not welcoming - although there are tables and chairs inside and sometimes outside - and it's often pretty smoke-filled from the cooking. No, the shopping plaza is not welcoming (urban outdoorsman were occupying the lot when I picked up just now). No, it's not convenient to me - and, no, she's not open a lot of the times when you might hope that she would be. No, it's not always efficient and paying with cash (not strictly necessary, but it'll save you so much time) is a hassle. But based on my experiences with the Burrito Lady, it's always worth getting yourself in here to try it out. Oh, and she has desserts (cookies and cake), too. ”
“ It's been a month and I'm still thinking about this supreme breakfast burrito. It had the perfect combination of bacon, eggs, and the amazing green chile. The line can get long and you can call ahead. It definitely helps to know your order and have cash. ”
“ Quick 'n easy burrito! With a drink for 9 dollars. Cookies to choose from. This spot by the looks of it has been here forever. I like it. ”
“ I live a few blocks from here and mostly go during lunch but have tried to get breakfast burritos here and it was too busy, which is a good thing. The tag line "If You Like It Hot" is to be trusted as a fact, her chile is spicy, not roast your brain spicy but getting up there. This is an order in and take elsewhere to eat kind of joint, there are some tables inside, and two outside, but other than that you might need to eat elsewhere. All of the burritos that I've had are top notch, but even with a name of Burrito Lady the place I love the most is the Taco Plate. ”
“ First off the burritos here are awesome. I recommend the supreme if you've never been there. If you can't handle really hot chile, don't even bother coming here because the spice level can be nuclear! The takeout experience is always interesting to say the least. I get a real kick out of reading the reviews from tourists who have stopped here. It's a high stress environment and the lady that runs the place always seems to be in the middle of a full panic attack and yelling at everyone, including customers.. I love it. You better call in your order or you might be ignored. Don't expect to be pampered or made to feel special here. It's a dog eat dog world and if you're lucky enough to be blessed with one of these amazing burritos, then put your tail between your legs, pay the piper and enjoy! Thank you burrito lady for your service to the local community ”
“ Endearing little place that does make some solid burritos however mine did have a fairly substantial amount of crunchy char to it and it's not a negative, but a fair warning would be that the green chili here is HOT as hell. Service is good, but order ahead because I imagine their little kitchen gets backed up during busy hours. ”
